Pulling Together for Arts and Culture
Every year in the week after Memorial Day, the leaders of southeastern Michigan’s business and civic communities convene at Mackinac Island for the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Policy Conference. It’s an unrivalled opportunity to make connections with community leaders you might not otherwise meet. I’ve attended for nearly 20 years, through many ups and downs of our region’s economy and politics.
Mackinac is a great indication of the temperature of opinion on important issues – and this year, the buzz on arts and culture was more prominent and more positive than it has been in a long time. The center of talk was the DIA’s millage, of course.
