October 7, Type-Oh-Rama-Three! at Signal-Return 
Detroit’s home for custom letterpress art marks its fifth anniversary with a fundraiser and the announcement of its second city-wide poster contest. 

October 7-9, Rhapsody in Blue at Orchestra Hall
As the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s 2016-17’s theme is Gershwin and His Children, it is only fitting that they begin their season with a three-concert series performing his groundbreaking Rhapsody in Blue, while investigating the relationship between classical and popular musical styles.

October 9, Creature Feature at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum
More than 70 different animal species visit the museum in what has become their biggest animal event of the year! 

October 9, Free Radicals: A Hippie Modernism Symposium at the Cranbrook Art Museum
During the last day of the Hippie Modernism exhibit, this afternoon panel discussion will explore the ideas posed by the ‘60s counterculture.

October 11-13, Mama Mia! at Macomb Center for the Performing Arts
Here we go again! This beloved musical set to classic ABBA music takes the stage for three nights in Macomb.

October 13-15, Mark Morris Dance Group & The Silk Road Ensemble: Layla and Majnun presented by UMS
Co-presented with Michigan Opera Theatre, this ensemble production combines lyrical choreography with Persian poetry in its retelling of this ancient love story. 

October 14, 2016 Gilmore Young Artist Daniel Hsu in Concert at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial
The Arts in the Alger series presents its opening concert of the season with pianist Daniel Hsu.

October 14, Legendary Fire Horses of Detroit Art Auction: DAM Gala 2
Detroit Artists Market artists have created original pieces for this year’s gala.

October 22, Illuminate: A Night at the Museum at Michigan Science Center
This year’s annual science soiree is a family-friendly evening exploring the science of light. 

Through October 30th Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery at Meadow Brook Theatre  
Five actors portray more than 40 characters in this Michigan premiere and murderously funny adventure mystery!
