In this multimedia presentation, Michael H. Hodges examines Albert Kahn’s overlooked role as a key foundation stone of modernist architecture. It’s the story of a penniless German-Jewish immigrant who invented modern architecture, with special attention to its origins in Kahn’s revolutionary factory design.

Michael H. Hodges has been the fine arts writer for The Detroit News for 26 years. He has received wide acclaim for his articles on Detroit architecture and the resurgence of Detroit. Hodges’ book, Building the Modern World: Albert Kahn in Detroit, is set for publication by Wayne State University Press in April 2018.
