The Detroit Zoo and the Michigan Humane Society, in collaboration with dozens of local animal welfare organizations, host the annual fall Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo. The event is one of the nation's largest off-site companion-animal adoption programs, where hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are available for immediate adoption to loving homes. There is no charge for admission or parking for adoption event guests; however, regular admission and parking fees apply for those visiting the Zoo. Held in the front parking lot beneath the landmark water tower.

Parking Cost and Availability:
There is no charge for parking for adoption event guests; however, regular parking fees apply for those visiting the Zoo.
Accessibility Information:
Wheelchairs are available for rent by the Chrysler Main Station and near the Africa Station seasonally. Volunteers are often available to further assist in accommodating guests with disabilities. Please contact us in advance of your visit at (248) 541-5717 ext. 3750. Service animals are permitted in all public areas of the Zoo except the Matilda R. Wilson, Free-Flight Aviary, Rainforest Immersion Gallery of the National Amphibian Conservation Center and Australian Outback Adventure, due to free-ranging animals.
