March 9th
8pm (Doors open at 7:30pm)
Joe Pug became a folk sensation in the early 2010s, dropping out of college, working as a carpenter in Chicago, and playing music after hours. He played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and the Newport Folk Festival. Then came a creative crisis and a long layoff, but Joe has back in a big way with his latest album, "Windfall." Joe collected plenty of the requisite Dylan comparisons over his young career, but now it’s easier to hear the sway of more contemporary influences like Josh Ritter, Ryan Adams and M.Ward. The theme of resilience in prominent in Joe's recent music. "I never really write songs with a specific narrative in mind," he explains. "When you’re sort of pushing through a dark period of your life it’s probably inevitable that some of that is going to find its way onto the page." Joe Pug was the MC for both nights of the 2018 Ann Arbor Folk Festival. Songwriter Jason Narducy (Split Single, Bob Mould Band) opens.
